A Custom Drapery Moment in the Making
For our Washington Heights project, we are creating a moody hallway that makes a strong first impression the moment you walk into the apartment.
The hallway is long, a little dark, and does not get much natural light, so instead of trying to make it feel bright, we decided to fully embrace the mood. The walls will be painted in Fine Wine by Sherwin-Williams, a deep wine color that feels rich, warm, and dramatic without being overwhelming.
One of the key details for this space is the custom drape.
Because the drape will be visible from both sides, we used Dedar fabrics on both the front and back, making it feel completely finished from every angle. The fabric brings in the jewel-toned direction of the project, with burgundy, olive, cream, and gold tones that connect beautifully with the rest of the hallway moodboard.
To finish it, I also sourced the fringe from a tiny remote store — one of those little finds that makes a custom detail feel even more special. The fringe adds texture, movement, and just the right amount of personality.
Now the drapes are finished, folded, and ready to travel to New York for installation!
